Hunter's Progress

June 2010

Thought I better do a final update, as some of you ask how Hunter is doing!

He had a swollen tendon in July '09, then in October had a mystery lameness and just wasn't himself. In November '09 my dearest hubbie broke his leg and I had to become Mrs Farmer, followed closely by Hunter (Mr Accident-Prone) put himself through a fence - so all in all not much work got done for the rest of 2009.

As for 2010... I wish I had a good excuse, but I really don't... I have just this past week ridden Hunter again twice - and that's all he's been ridden this year! I've just skimmed through my 2010 diary, and apart from those 2 rides he has been worked a grand total of 19 times this year... an average of just over once a week.... (blush)

HOWEVER...! These 2 rides have been amazing! He is soft and responsive, balancing nicely in both directions at walk and trot, stretching nicely in trot; his trot is balanced, forwards, and springy, and he's maintaining nice balance when changing direction in trot. Considering how little work he gets, I'm really amazed and happy with how he's going - I guess it just proves that it's quality that matters, not quantity! He has looked the best ever since we have had him, this year, too. So to finish off Hunters pages (unless we ever make it to canter, in which case I'll add another page), below again are pics of what he looked like when we got him 4.5 years ago, and how he looks now.
