Ian rode Hunter regularly over the summer on the farm, even moving mobs of cattle, and they got on well together. We did a little groundwork most times before riding, and Ian had a couple of lessons working on his position. Otherwise we just rode; no concentrated schooling at all. For a variety of reasons (non-stop overseas visitors, then winter) Hunter then wasn’t ridden or worked from March – mid July 06. I started working with him in earnest on 15 July 06. These photos are from our 3rd groundwork session, on 17 July 06. Hunter was initially extremely stuck and stiff in his neck on the right side, though by these photos he is starting to release and stretch.
