These pictures weren’t taken at a comparable stride or angle, but before the demo exercises (left) Arthur was stiff and uneven and Viv was having to work hard.  After (right) his stride was more forward and even and there was more push from behind.

This exercise releases the base of the neck, shoulders and ribcage, encouraging the horse to shift their weight from side to side freely and evenly.

The riders could feel the difference in their balance and security, and in the horse’s engagement and softness, when they switched back and forth between old and new positions.
