“I love introducing people to a more connected relationship with their horse, improving the understanding and awareness between the two, and helping it to develop.  In a 2 day Connected Riding clinic riders and their horses start by learning body awareness; understanding how to use their posture and balance to communicate more clearly and softly with each other.  Ground exercises identify our horse’s tight spots, and start re-educating their bodies to move in a freer more supple way.  Riders are re-balanced in the saddle, increasing not only balance and security but also the oneness they feel with their horse; then ridden exercises continue the connection, improving the horse’s engagement, performance and attention.  I love the ‘Ah ha!’ moments, when riders find that magical place where everything just feels right between them and their horse!  These clinics are progressive; every time you come you will learn more exercises and techniques to further enhance your connection with your horse, your balance, communication, and most of all self carriage and performance.”  Trisha Wren

SAMPLE FORMAT, 2 Day Connected Riding™ Foundation Clinic

The foundation 2-day clinic is very intensive; your brains will be bursting by the end!  As well as your own sessions your learning is enhanced by watching the others, as often different situations arise with different horses and riders.  Auditors are encouraged - clinics are interactive, and you can learn as much by watching and asking questions as by bringing your own horse.  At future clinics riders may come for just their sessions if they wish.

Day 1 - Morning

  • Introduction to Connected Riding
  • Demo with horse and rider, to show what improvements can be made to performance, engagement, elevation, behaviour etc
  • Ground exercises for riders: learn more about your posture, balance, and communication with your horse.

Afternoon

12 participants split into 3 groups of 4. Group sessions with your horse, learning the first ground and bodywork exercises.

Day 2 - Morning

Ridden sessions in your groups. Rider balancing: finding the correct position in the saddle and adding movement.

Afternoon

Ridden sessions in your groups, putting it all together!

Future clinics would cover additional groundwork, addressing the horse's self-carriage and suppleness, with riding becoming more advanced.
